iEdit is a free demo of an iMessage based AI video editor. This page explains what we collect when you text the demo number, why we keep it, who else sees it, and how to ask for it to be deleted. Plain English. No tracking on this website beyond what's described under Analytics.
1. What we collect
When you text +1 (650) 468-7059 you're starting a conversation with the iEdit demo. To produce a video, we receive and process:
- Your phone number as relayed by our SMS gateway (Linq). We use it to route the finished video back to you and to rate limit by sender.
- The clips and images you send, plus the captions and any follow up replies (for example "make the text yellow"). We process these to render your edit and to evaluate failures.
- Job metadata, such as timestamps, edit plan, chosen music track, and render duration.
- Basic device info that the gateway forwards with the message (carrier, message type). We don't collect contacts, location, or your address book.
On this website we collect nothing by default. If you opt in to analytics, we record anonymous, aggregated page views via Plausible (no cookies, no fingerprints, no cross site tracking). If you don't opt in, no analytics scripts load.
2. Why we collect it
- To produce and deliver your edited video.
- To enforce per sender and system wide rate limits so the demo stays free for everyone.
- To debug failures (a crashed render, a missing clip) and improve how the model plans edits.
- To handle abuse: spam, illegal content, or attempts to overload the demo.
3. Who else sees it
iEdit is a pipeline. Your message passes through a few services. Each is contractually bound to confidentiality.
- Linq, our SMS gateway. Receives and delivers messages. Sees your phone number and message content.
- Anthropic (Claude API). Reads your caption and generates an edit plan. Anthropic does not train on API data by default.
- Jamendo. We query their royalty free music catalog for tracks. They don't receive your media.
- Render, our hosting provider, runs the worker that stitches the final video together.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it for advertising. We don't share it with third parties beyond the list above.
4. How long we keep it
- Source clips and finished videos: deleted within 30 days of the last activity on the conversation.
- Message text and job metadata: kept up to 90 days for abuse review and debugging, then deleted or aggregated beyond recognition.
- Phone number on a block list: kept indefinitely if you've been blocked for abuse, so we don't accidentally re enable the account.
5. Your choices
- Opt out of SMS any time by replying
STOPto the demo number. We honor it immediately and won't message you again from the demo. - Delete your data on request. Email rayid@iedit.dev from the phone number's associated email or include the last four digits of your number plus a recent message timestamp. We reply within 30 days.
- Revisit website consent any time via the cookie preferences link in the footer.
6. Security
Data in transit uses TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting provider. Access to logs is limited to the maintainer. This is a small free demo, not a hardened enterprise system. Don't send anything to it that you wouldn't put on a public social platform.
7. Children
iEdit is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used the demo, email us and we'll delete the conversation.
8. International users
The service is operated from the United States. If you're texting from the EU, UK, or other jurisdictions, you have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Email us to exercise any of these.
9. Changes
We'll update this page if the data flow changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will also get a heads up in your next reply from the bot.
